10 Fun Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day in Hong Kong
1. Take a Tram Ride to Remember
Hop aboard a classic “ding ding” and explore the city at a slower pace—perfect for a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I know we are biased but we love heading west from central and stopping at Western Market in Sheung Wan - then you are only a quick skip up the road to the showroom on Queens Road West! Also so many great things to do in and around Sheung Wan ... here's a blog post where we share some of our favourite things to do in the area!
2. Dim Sum Brunch Together
Whether you head to a local cha chaan teng or a dim sum spot - my family loves to eat at Golden Valley at the Emperor Hotel in Causeway Bay (easy access for my wheel-chair bound grandfather) or Dynasty at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel. It’s a delicious way to bond.
3. Go on a Junk Boat Adventure
Treat Dad to a day on the water! Book a junk trip around the harbour in one of the in iconic red sailed junks on the Aqua Luna or Dukling) or charter a boat with friends and family around Sai Kung for some sea, sun, and snacks.
4. Plan a Hike with a View
From Dragon’s Back to The Peak, Hong Kong has endless trails. Pack some snacks and enjoy quality time in nature.
5. Craft Beer Tasting
Hit up local breweries like Young Master or Gweilo and do a tasting together—cheers to Dad!
6. Book a BBQ Spot at a Country Park
Bring the family, grill some food, and enjoy an old-school Hong Kong BBQ at places like Tai Mei Tuk or Shek O.
7. Take a Heritage Walk
Explore Dad’s childhood haunts or visit a historic neighbourhood like Sham Shui Po or Tai O for a walk through Hong Kong’s past. Our friend Amy Overy runs a great tour company Hong Kong Greeters or other companies like Walk Hong Kong have many different tours you can join.
8. DIY Movie Night at Home
Set up a home cinema with all Dad’s favourite snacks and films. Bonus points for retro Hong Kong classics! What about Ip Man, or some Bruce Lee action with Fist of Fury or the Big Boss?
9. Spoil Him with a Hong Kong-Inspired Gift
Pick a thoughtful Father’s Day card and gift that celebrates local love—like a Hong Kong mug, a book about wildlife in Hong Kong, or what about a fun personalised set of golf balls (Hong Kong-themed, of course!)
10. Capture a Memory Together
Book a mini family photo session, or just snap a selfie on your adventure—memories matter more than things. If you are booking a session we are huge fans of Jenna Lousie Potter who does gorgeous family shoots around Hong Kong.
