Irene from Team LRP and I popped across to Zhuhai recently and thought you might like some tips if you are planning a visit in the near future!
⛴️Take the ferry from Shun Tak to Zhuhai (I usually just go for a day trip). It costs approx HK$180 and take about 70 minutes.
🍊Don’t take fruit across the border into China. I forgot and had a tangerine in my bag that was confiscated 🥺
🇨🇳I’ve got a multi-entry visa to China - you used to be able to get a single entry visa on arrival at Zhuhai pre-covid but I’m not sure about that situation now. Best to check on this before you leave if you don’t have a China visa already.
👬Best thing to do is take a guide plus driver - I pay around 900RMB a day for this which includes lunch. Not too bad if a few of you are going and split the cost between friends. The guide can take you to the bet places and help negotiate prices for you. Drop me an email if you’d like me to send you the details of who I normally use (info@thelionrockpress.com)
🚖From the port it takes approximately 30-40 minutes in a taxi to the antique village area. The drivers know the best ones to go to.
🛍️You can ask the guide and driver to take you to specific shops that might sell, for example, ginger jars or brass fittings or furniture.
🛒For those living in Hong Kong your guide can arrange carriage of items back to HK
🧳I would also recommend taking at least one pull along suitcase to bring back your treasures!
🤩 Enjoy! It’s such a fun day trip - especially with a group of friends!
