About you
I'm Terry Wong and was born and raised in Cheung Chau, an island of Hong Kong. I graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, which engages in illustration and graphic design. From 2020 to 2022, I started an illustration column ‘Look into HK Culture’ for Hong Kong LEI Magazine introducing the local shops and traditional cultures of the city.
Your Inspiration
Most of my inspirations come from my daily life, as well as Hong Kong culture, news and movies.
Favourite thing to do or see in Hong Kong
My favourite thing to do in HK is watching movies in the cinema. I also love riding a bicycle in Cheung Chau especially at midnight, I really enjoy the quietness there and it’s relaxing.
What is your next illustration going to be?
I am currently working on a new series, combining HK scenery with movie characters together. Taking my Wah Fu Estate postcard as example, it was inspired by the Wah Fu Estate UFO Myth from the early 80s that a group of people claimed they spotted a UFO hovering over the estate. So I linked this myth with the legendary ‘E.T. Go Home’ scene together in my latest work.
